Condensed Field. In the NFL, the Red Zone is the area closest to the end zone, from the 20-yard line. In Flag, it's even closer - the 10 yard line. The condensed field allows for more feel-good scoring plays, highlights, and celebrations to promote fun in the sport. If they have fun on a small field, there's even more fun on the bigger field starting in 2nd grade.
Structured Games. Starting at the 10-yard line, teams have 4 plays on Offense and 4 plays on Defense. That constitutes one quarter. The game is 4 quarters. That's a total of 32 plays (16 on offense and 16 on defense). It's designed to be an efficient introduction to Flag football and truly recreational experience for parents and coaches.
Truly Recreational. By nature, some folks will keep score and keep track of touchdowns. That's fine! Unlike our older divisions, we will not keep score, track wins and losses, and have standings, playoffs, and championships. The RED ZONE is deigned to learn the basics of the game, be part of a team, and have fun.
Lower Cost. As an introduction to flag football for this age group, the cost is only $100/player. We want it to be accessible and fun for everyone.
